I. CEO’S CORNER
It is hard to believe that March is quickly approaching. Valentines day is almost here and once
again I do not have a gift yet for my wonderful wife. If you have any great suggestions please

We have added many new features and partners to our service offering. Digital North staff are very
excited about all of them. We have been listening to your needs. If there is a service that we have
not addressed to date please feel free to contact me.
Our website at www.digitalnorth.net has improved by leaps and bounds over the last couple months.
You will continue to see improvements in the near future. I think you will find that it is a valuable
resource.

II. DIGITAL NORTH WELCOMES WIREFEED CUSTOMERS
Digital North would like to extend a warm welcome to all Wirefeed hosting customers. On November 1st
we acquired Wirefeed’s webhosting service. This acquisition was Digital North’s second hosting
acquisition in 2001. Wirefeed provided hosting solutions to small and mid-sized businesses since
1995. Tony Cohen, Wirefeed’s founder, continues to work with Digital North in a sales capacity.
We will continue to deliver the high level of customer service that Tony and the Wirefeed staff
provided in the past. We appreciate your patience as we transition Wirefeed’s services to our
high-speed datacenter in Minneapolis. Please do not hesitate to call Tony Cohen or Michael Sowada
if you have any questions or concerns about your Wirefeed service transition.
III. NEW TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHIPS
Digital North is pleased to announce new technology partnerships with Microsoft, Miva and Thawte.
The new partnerships allow us to expand our hosting services and deliver superior products to our
customers. Our clients benefit by working with a company that has strong relationships with major
industry vendors.
Microsoft’s Windows Web Hoster Program recognizes hosting companies that follow best practices for
managing Window-based services. Digital North supports all Microsoft Windows technology platforms
in a shared or dedicated hosting environment.
Digital North is a Miva Certified Business Partner. Miva provides the leading e-commerce platform
for small to medium-sized businesses. Over a dozen Digital North clients have already selected Miva
as the shopping cart system for their websites. The Miva Merchant system provides an industrial
strength, industry standard shopping cart system for your website. The system is fully web-managed
and requires no special technical knowledge to maintain. One of the key selling points is the low
cost. Digital North offers Miva hosting plans starting as low as $50 per month. Please let us know

One of our goals at Digital North is to provide our customers with options. We want to deliver a
solution that meets your specific needs. By becoming a Thawte Official Hosting Partner we are
meeting this goal. Thawte is a global provider of digital certificate solutions (SSL) that provide
Internet users with security when sending information to websites. Digital North can purchase
digital certificates from Thawte at half the price of competing digital certificate vendors. You may
be able to save on your next digital certificate purchase!
Digital North is continuously evaluating new technologies and new partnerships. We only partner
with vendors that add value to our clients. We look forward to announcing several new partnerships
in the near future.
IV. KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS
Do you know how many visitors are accessing your website? Do you know where your visitors are
coming from and which web pages they are looking at? Those visitors may be your customers or your
competitors. But if you don’t look at your website log reports you will never know.
Website logs? What are those? If you are asking yourself this question then you are missing out on
one of the key benefits of your Digital North webhosting service. Or, at least you are missing a
great opportunity to impress your manager, IT director, or CEO.
Digital North uses a superior website reporting system called Urchin
(www.urchin.com). The Urchin
system collects visitor data from your website every morning. The system crunches through the data
and stores the information in a very efficient reporting database.
You can log into the Urchin reporting system at any time to generate visitor reports for your
website. You will need a username and a password to access your website reports. Fortunately this
username and password are the same as your website account (only one password to remember!). Please

The Urchin website reports will present detailed visitor statistics. You can look at daily, weekly,
monthly, or yearly reports – you can even select a custom timeframe. If your website is using the

the office.
V. NEW BROADCAST EMAIL SERVICE
The new Digital North Broadcast Email service is ideal for organizations that need to manage large
